Loungeware - Community Made Microgame Collection

About

I designed and developed 5 microgames for Loungeware. The Loungeware website describes the project as "a collection of microgames in the style of Warioware that is made by volunteers all over the world in GameMaker."

My Games

  • Cheat - A stealth/button mashing game.
  • Artillery - A "Worms" like game with artillery firing mechanics.
  • Makimono - An auto-scrolling platformer.
  • Measure Up - A timing based physics puzzle.
  • Draw Claw - A bullet hell with hand drawn art.

Development Details

I lead a team comprised of myself, an artist and sound designer to create my first microgame, Cheat, in one week. This was done as a warmup for a game jam where we went on to create Nori & Jumbo.

I ended up making 4 more games, spending only one day on each one. I did this to challenge myself to design and develop small ideas in new genres.

Retrospective

My initial goal was to do this 7 days in a row, but fatigue set in and I ended up tapping out after a long day 4. One day is a very limited time frame to make anything from scratch, especially when every day demands a new idea. I am still incredibly happy with what I did and how the Loungeware community responded to my work.
